Architectural Theory

A study in nature.

Real-Time Images

Down the Glass Column
- The school is built around a tree that pierces above the canopy of the building. The elements of the school are rotated around the tree to create a central focus on the study of nature.

Through the Steel Balustrade
- A juxtaposition of the random structure of nature and the material composition of steel in the balustrade of a staircase invokes thought on how architecture can build a relationship between organic and artificial.

Chilling on the Roof Garden
- An area of relief and shrouded in the shade of the upper floors, the rooftop garden provides a respite for the hard-worked students of architecture. It is known that nature has the power to rejuvenate and so, the garden is an essential aspect of getting students of architecture through to the end of their master's degree.

Listening intently in the lecture theatre
- Carved wooden seats with no tables challenges the notion of typical lecture theatres. The open but small space allows intimacy between lecturer and student, thus developing a connection that helps the student understand the intricacies of architecture.

Transition from the Squarehouse
- A smooth wooden tunnel paved with fresh grass and open to the world provides an easy and comfortable transition from the squarehouse to the school.
